There are quite a few ways of whitening your teeth these days, and they cover both ends of the economic market. At the cheaper end are the home kits which allow you to do the job yourself, the instructions are simple to follow and the results can be very effective; albeit varied at times. The cost is around £50 and the method is quite ingenious. First you have to take the provided gum shield and soften it in a bowl of hot water, which allows you to bite onto it and create a mould for the whitening agent to do its job. The impression you make of your teeth on the shield will allow the maximum amount of whitening agent to work on your discoloured teeth. Next you mix the bleaching agent and pour a small amount into the mould, then simply place it on your top and bottom set of teeth. You leave it for a recommended time period and the results can be quite good. Provided that you now follow the restrictive instructions, your teeth should stay whiter for a few months before you need to follow the procedure again. If that’s not for you then another method will probably be better. This involves a gel again, but the procedure is administered by a trained technician. The technicians travel from salon to salon, and even go to peoples houses to do this work. First of all the technician needs to examine your gum line, if it is too receding then the procedure cannot be done. Assuming that all is fine, the teeth are coated with a gel, and then a shield is placed in the mouth. This protects the gums and allows a maximum amount of intense light to react with the gel. Rocket Science it ain`t, but the technician needs to be certificated and the environment controlled for maximum effect. The method is simple in that the gel reacts with the light source and whitens the teeth to a controlled shade. The teeth will become sensitive afterwards, but only for a few days. There are restrictions on what you can eat and drink for a while, but all in all this method is not only cost effective, but really efficient. To find a technician in your area look under salons in your phone book, and call them for more information on visiting technicians.
